TT Electronics Launches EBW5216 Busbar Shunt Resistors
Posted Date : 16 June 2023

Woking, UK, 31 May 2023 – TT Electronics, a global provider of engineered electronics for performance critical applications, today announced the EBW5216 series of shunt resistors for high current measurements in the hundreds of amps range. With a wide temperature range from –65 to +170°C and AEC-Q200 qualification, the EBW5216 series is ideal for a spectrum of industrial and energy management applications, including welding power supplies, motor drives, battery management, energy metering, and process control. Building on TT’s expertise in current sense resistors engineered to meet demanding accuracy targets, the EBW5216 family is a compact complement to TT’s EBW8518 and is busbar-mounted in a 5216 size.

EBW5216 is an electron-beam welded resistance element sandwiched between large copper terminals with optional tin plating. The series offers values of 50 and 100µΩ at down to 1% tolerance, 150ppm/°C TCR (measurement), 20ppm/°C TCR (alloy), and <1µV/°C thermal EMF. The EBW5216’s ultra-low ohmic values reduce power loss and its low self-heating reduces equipment temperature and improves reliability.

New Article from TT Electronics: Is Machine Vision Surpassing the Human Eye for Accuracy?
Posted Date : 10 February 2023

The idea behind machine vision, or artificial vision, is to enable industrial automation systems – via image processing – to perceive the outside world in a way that is completely analogous to the sight of a human being. Aimed at evaluating the salient features of the product under analysis, machine vision exploits the acquisition of images through cameras and their subsequent processing using image processing algorithms.

Don’t Sacrifice Performance for Environmental Concerns
Posted Date : 16 December 2021

High performance and higher efficiency are common trends in most technologies, but particularly in transportation applications where the potential for significant environmental impact on a global scale is high. Greener, cleaner ideals are taking the lead in defining new goals for how technology must balance performance with environmental considerations. Electric vehicles and next-generation electric trains are working to meet the common goal to minimise their carbon footprint on Earth.

It’s an effort that demands attention to every facet of train design and development – with new systems facing constraints of size, weight, and integration with legacy systems. Following a common trend demonstrated successfully by high-speed national trains, railway scenarios such as subway, city, and intercity light rail systems are focusing on optimising all performance aspects of their traction and auxiliary units. This means tapping into advances in optoisolators that enable smarter designs and improved performance – scalable across fleets of trains, diverse routes, and broad geographic regions.
